Assistive technology: Kara Dennison’s story

For those people who want to see what technology can really do to aid learning I would suggest that they see the above video.

I was really moved by Kara’s story and impressed by the way that this child who was born a “special baby” and whose mother was told that she probably wouldn’t live and that she could put her up for adoption…who cannot use her arms and legs… has been able to excel as a learner and surprise even her teachers by her intelligence and the way that she has mastered the technology that has… and there is no other way to look at it… released her from a life that would probably have been limited in terms of her learning and potential.

This is a story of how human potential has been released and aided by technology in a really wonderful way. So the next time that you get people who say what’s the point of it all just tell them that this computer technology has helped one child who has overcome many of her problems by its use and it can do the same for so many others because the access to the world of learning truly means the Sky’s the limit!
